When you don't want to give your dog medication

Sometimes you want to avoid giving your dog medication, if possible. There are simple home remedies that you can safely use. If a solution you hear doesn't seem safe, it's best to consult a veterinarian first. The following products are all safe to use on your dog.

dog, vet, medication, pet, animals,

Ticks or fleas

Make a paste of orange peels and apply it evenly to the dog's coat. Leave it on for five hours, then wash it off gently. This is an easy and safe home remedy to help your dog get rid of ticks and fleas.

Dry and cracked paws

Take petroleum jelly or petroleum jelly and apply it to the paws for four to five days. You will see the expected improvement and the paw will heal.

Odor problem

Add a few drops of vinegar to the dog's bath water. If you have trouble bathing your dog, use baking soda as a dry shampoo. Sprinkle it on your dog's coat and leave it on for a few minutes, then brush it out.

Insects and bites

Insect stings and bites are other common problems in dogs. As soon as you notice it, apply a suitable solution of baking soda and water to the bitten area. Apply ice if swelling occurs. However, if you notice difficulty breathing after a bite, take your dog to the vet immediately as he may be allergic to the bite.

A caveat is in order. Never give your dog food containing onions or garlic, as they are toxic to the dog. If your dog is vomiting, has diarrhea, or seems to be in pain, don't try home remedies. Call your veterinarian immediately. Being safe is better than losing your beloved friend.
