A look at cat breeds

Over the past few thousand years, cats have practically managed their breeding themselves. At first, they were used for one purpose: to hunt and kill rodents. Over the years we began to breed cats more to our liking. Today, there are several breeds of cats, which you can see by looking closely.

Today there are more than 70 distinct breeds of cats, which are recognized by cat registries. Several registries only recognize about 40 breeds, as they exclude more domestic breeds such as tigers. There are also many variations, including wild cats that have longer hair.

Some cat breeds have roots that go back a long way in history. Some Japanese breeds, like the Japanese Bobtail, date back over 1,000 years. These cats were very common and well-known in medieval Japan. Nowadays, however, they are just a myth in Japan and around the world.

The most common cat breeds in North America are the alley cat, the longhaired cat, and the Persian cat. Siamese cats are also common, although they are known to be destructive and have a bad temper. Persian cats are very popular and prove to be affectionate companions. Persian cats can be very expensive, depending on where you get them and the type of Persian cat.

Alley cats are the most common in North America. There are actually several different breeds, although most of us just call them alley cats. They make great pets, although there are literally thousands of them. Cats are known to breed more than any other pet, and they will continue to breed until stopped. Alley cats are among the most reproducing cats, as hundreds of thousands of cats are homeless and have nothing to do but breed.

The cat's appearance is the easiest way to tell what breed it is. Some people choose to base it on color, although it's not as easy to identify. Different breeds of cats look different like Siamese and Persian cats. Siamese cats are almost always black and easy to identify by color and eyes. Persian cats, on the other hand, are easily identifiable by their morphology and hair.

Over the years, many breeds have emerged. Cats were one of the first pets, and easily one of the most popular. Millions of people around the world own cats, and many prefer a cat to any other pet, including dogs. Whichever breed of cat you choose, you are sure to have a pet that will make a great companion for years and years.
